What Snacks And Meals A Low Carb Dieter Can Eat

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

By James Ellison It ought to be no eye opener that consuming whole foods is the most beneficial way to go if you are looking for nourishment and vitality when indulging the low carb way of life. Do you recognize that consuming low carb snacks every couple of hours during the day is excellent for your health and wellness? You have to indulge about every three hours in order to sustain a regular blood sugar level and maintain your vitality in balance. Many foods in the supermarket stores that are packed, en-wrapped, or boxed just are not as wholesome. These lines of merchandise are boxed with components and spices that low carb dieters had better shy away from. Low Carb Meals A major advantage of consuming whole foods is that you can devour all of the unprocessed whole foods that you wish and still loose weight and look outstanding. Many vegetables, fruits, and protein from meats should be the heart and the soul of the low carb meals. Definitely do not skimp on the fruits and vegetables! To enjoy eating the fruits and vegetables try these plans of action: a. When there are fruits that do not require to be preserved by chilling then save them in simple sight as much as feasible. Try to get into the habit of grabbing them as you go from and into the house. b. While you do your grocery buying try some of the foods fixed at the salad bars. Those dishes have vegetables and fruits already cut and fixed for you to eat. c. Search for vegetables and fruits that don’t require much peeling or fixing, ready to eat. Make it easy on yourself. Don’t lose sight about the protein. Protein is a really crucial component of a healthy diet that is essential in establishing and fixing tissue. Comprehensive proteins from sources like eggs, meat, dairy or fish that has all of the required amino acids that the body needs. Here are some samples of whole food and low carb protein sources that can be savored: sirloin, steak, buffalo, veal, bacon, tenderloin, chicken, turkey and eggs. Low Carb Snacks Many individuals have been trained to eat three big meals per day but this is in reality not the best way to set up your eating program if having a regular flow of energy is your objective. Furthermore to have more energy, eat lightly on low carb foods all the way through the day also helps you convert your food easier and helps in burning fat. Downing large meals during the day, particularly with a ton of starchy and sugary carbs, is in reality halting proper digestion and fat loss. What types of low carb snacks can you eat? It is rather simple actually. What you do is snack on food that is low in carbohydrates and sugars. Here are several suggestions to snack you into weight loss and steeper levels of energy by exercising the advantage of healthy and wholesome low carb snacks. Here are ten excellent ideas. 1. Pick your favorite sandwich meat and wrap some delicious cheese around it. 2. Place all natural peanut butter on celery sticks. 3. Good and creamy plain cottage cheese. 4. Chopped celery combined with tuna salad. 5. A low carb filling inside of bell peppers. 6. Already wrapped cheese sticks. 7. Eggs that are hard-boiled. 8. A mixture of healthy nuts and seeds. 9. Stuffed tomatoes. 10. Edible roast beef cubes. All of these low carb snacking results are fast to prepare and easy to eat, particularly if you are constantly on the move. 10 Golden Rules For Successful Online Dating

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

By Jonathan White As everyone knows, the favourite method of mating and dating for singletons the world over is to join an online dating site. But what most people don’t realise is that only around 10% of dating site members actually meet a long-term partner on their chosen site and a whopping 70% don’t even receive one message from another member. If you follow the 10 simple steps outlined below, you too can join the 10% who find love and romance on line. 1. Choose the right site. The boom in online dating has provided a plethora of choice for consumers but you should take a few moments to decide on the type of partner you’re looking for, not to mention the town or city where you would prefer him/her to be located. There are niche sites which cater to all sectors (single parents, bikers, gay people etc) and general sites which welcome all comers just as there are city or country specific sites and sites with a global perspective. Choosing the right site for you is probably the most important decision you’ll make when looking for a partner on line. 2. Choose a great username. First impressions always last and the on line identity which you give yourself is the first thing that other members will see before they check-out your profile. ‘Funny’ works, ‘cryptic’ works and you wont go far wrong even if you decide to use your own christian name; but if you go down the smutty or sexually suggestive route (which a lot of guys seem to do), you’ll find that other members will give you a wide berth. 3. Upload a photo. This is crucial as a significant percentage of people only search for members who have bothered to include a pic; you want to see what other members look like so it stands to reason that other people will feel the same way about you. If the only photo you have isn’t particularly flattering, you can always mention that in your profile - it’s still better than no photo at all. 4. Complete your profile. There’s nothing more off-putting than a profile which screams “I can’t be bothered to do this properly”. If you don’t have time to complete all the categories when you are signing-up, then make the time to do so at the earliest opportunity. 5. Be upbeat and positive. If you’re feeling a little down or lacking in confidence, now isn’t the time to say so when you’re writing a description of yourself. If you come across as confident, happy and full of fun, you’ll get much more attention than if you come across as mono-syllabic or down in the dumps. And remember, humour is a real ice-breaker and a great aphrodisiac. 6. Widen your search criteria. If you generally go for people who have blonde hair, blue eyes and are between 5′4″ and 5′6″ and you narrow your search down to just these specifics, then you may be missing out on a great many other members who you’ll also find just as attractive. To start with, just search by gender, age and location and that way you’ll be giving yourself the widest possible choice. 7. Don’t automatically dismiss people. If you receive a message from someone who’s profile you like but who hasn’t bothered to include a photo, you should still write back and ask them to send a pic to your regular email address. You’ll find that many people are more willing to do this than post a pic for all and sundry to look at. 8. Use all the features on offer. Many sites provide a great deal more than just an internal emailing system. Some sites might include voice messaging whilst others enable members to chat and flirt in ‘real time’ with other members and the more you take advantage of everything that’s available to you, the more chance you have of making contact with someone special. 9. Be proactive. Once you’ve registered and completed your profile, don’t wait for others to make contact with you. When you spot someone who you think might be a good fit with yourself, write to them and introduce yourself. And don’t just say ‘Hi, I like your profile’, tell them why you’ve written to them and point out the things that you believe you have in common. A long opening message will create a much better impression than a short, perfunctory one. 10. Check back with the site. Most popular dating sites have new people joining all the time so remember to log-in at least once every day to view the most recent members and you can then contact anyone you like the look of before others get the chance to do so. Also, you should remember that on most sites, the members who log-in the most appear higher up the search listings than those who don’t so your profile will be easier to spot by people with whom you might be compatible. So there you have it - successful online dating is not rocket science; it just takes a bit of thought and a bit of effort and if you adhere to the 10 rules that I have outlined above, then your personal life will soon receive the kick-start it deserves. Alternative Medicine is Preventive; Western Medicine is Curative

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By Daryl Kulak Have you heard the term wellness? It has two contexts, one in alternative medicine and one in Western medicine. In the alternative medicine world, wellness means taking care of yourself so you don’t get sick. Let’s find ways to avoid cancer, heart disease, mental illness. We can do this through changing our diet, exercising more, and changing our energy fields. In Western medicine, we wait until we get one of these diseases, then we rush heroically to beat the disease. In Western medicine, the term wellness means early detection of disease. If you walk into a Wellness Center in a hospital, you’ll see mammogram screening rooms, MRI machines and other tools to scan for the existence of disease. Is that wellness? To me, it’s not. Wellness is about staying well, it is about avoiding disease in the first place. When a person is told You have cancer, it is a major blow to their psyches, and their lives. Why go through that if you don’t have to? Why not do whatever you can to avoid that terrible day? Western medicine treats the pre-detection part of life as a kind of random soup of nothingness. You can’t really do anything about any of these diseases, you just get them or you don’t. No rhyme or reason to it, it just hits you, and then you deal with it. Genetics is a big factor in the Western medical model. If you get cancer, ah, well, it was in your genes that you’d get it. You see, your great grandfather had cancer, so it was inevitable that you’d get it too. Huh? Unfortunately, Western medicine can’t explain why siblings get or don’t get diseases supposedly passed on from their parents. One sister dies of cancer at a 25 (because of genetics) and the other sister lives to be 100 (also genetics?). For my part, I’m going to take the best care of myself possible, and not play a silly waiting game for disease. Collecting Transportation Tokens

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Glyn Farber Transportation tokens, sometimes called Transit tokens or Bus tokens, are tokens made for an operator of a transportation facility. They were used with his authority on his facility for personal transport or passage. They include tokens used mainly on buses and streetcars to accepted as payment for one fare, one half fare or one student fare. Toll roads, bridges, amusement rides and ferries also used tokens and they fall under the transportation token category. The majority of these tokens are 16mm or 23mm and had three main types of buses pictured. The old bus type with the protruding front first appeared in 1924. A second type appeared in 1936 and by 1952 a third type closely resembled a Greyhound bus. Many other tokens had the name of the transportation company, city and state on them. Many did not have the city and state, so a catalog is needed to identify there location. More than 12,000 different United States Transportation tokens have been catalogued by John M. Coffee and Harold V. Ford. Their catalogs are published by the American Vecturist Association (AVA). Their most recent catalog is titled Catalog of United States and Canadian Transportation Tokens and was published in 1997. The catalog contains detailed description with retail prices for each token. The book is the 5th edition, hardbound, 870 pages and usually retails for about $48.00. Looking for something interesting to collect and dont have a lot of cash then try transportation tokens. Most regular issue transportation tokens are common and priced very low. You could assemble thousands of different tokens for less than $1.00 each. These tokens can be collected by type or by state and can be enjoyed by both young and old. The history and availability of these tokens make them very popular as a collectible. The best place to purchase transportation tokens and the catalog mentioned above is eBay. Glyn Farber has published a catalog of all known Hickey Brother Cigar Store Tokens and co-authored a book about Louisiana Trade Tokens. In addition he wrote several articles for The Token and Medal Society (TAMS) and The National Token Collectors Association (NTCA). Glyn has been a devoted collector of Louisiana Trade Tokens, Louisiana collectibles and Lake Charles, LA postcards for almost 40 years. Preserving Memories With Scrapbooks

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Kenneth Snodin Scrapbooks are an ideal way to preserve memories and retrieve them for later reference or use. They allow for a trip down memory lane without struggling about what someone had said on a particular even or what you were wearing on your first prom party. These fun books keep precious memories safe and tucked away in a corner till the time you are ready to revisit or share them with someone. By including our thoughts in a scrapbook, not only can you hold memories for a long time but can also utilize your current time in doing something creative and meaningful. Given the options that are there in the market today, getting started with the process can sweep you over. Craft stores have a bundle of varied products to offer starting from complete kits that include the works, stickers, colorful paper, a wide range of colored markers, paint and glitters. To top it all there will be choices that you may need to make on the kind of book you want to use for your cherished memories. But there is no need to worry about such decisions since you definitely need not buy all the products available in the shop to start. You could start with a simple book in which to stick pictures and pen down your thoughts or choose an album. You could also choose a scrapbook designed specially for the purpose that may have various themes and sections to aid the process. The one thing that you do want to make sure about before deciding on the book is that it should be sturdy and should be able to stand the test of time. For eternal safekeeping today there are digital options for scrapbooks and you could download a scrapbook template and even load it on your personal web page to share. Beyond the book, you should choose a few from the various options that you have to get you started. If you feel that you would like to add more aspects to your scrapbook, you can always come back to the craft store again. Some questions that you need to ask yourself before getting started are how you will personalize the book and how you will preserve the images. Personalizing the scrapbook is an easy task since all that you need to do is be yourself and choose the accessories that you like. However, while deciding to preserve your memories ensure that you use acid free paper to keep it safe from bugs. Roman Catholicism: Why I Had to Leave PART 3

Friday, September 21st, 2007

By Michael Tummillo THE TRUTH SETS US FREEWHEN WE KNOW IT! Granted, the rank and file Catholic across the globe has no more grasp of the facts youve been reading than the average Mormon does of their cultic teachings or the average Muslim does of their false religion. Or the average Protestant Christian knows about their faith. Were all just as slothful at reading our so-called inspired books or researching our own historical backgrounds, Catholics and non-Catholics alike. In I Corinthians 6:12, Paul stated, Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. He was possibly addressing those in the Corinthian church who boasted about being able to get away with anything they pleased as a result of Gods grace. Many still do this today. I recall, as a young Catholic boy, actually hearing friends say they were going to knowingly perform some sinful act, but they would make sure to go to confession the next day. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked. A man reaps what he sows (Gal 6:7). My heart is broken for Catholics because that is where I came from. Many Catholics are fruit-bearing Christians who love Jesus wholeheartedly and it warms my heart to know we will be together forever in Heaven, without any pit-stops in Purgatory (which became Catholic dogma in 1439, Council of Florence). The non-Scriptural acts they perform and the dogmas to which they adhere will NOT keep them from Heaven. No, God looks at the heart (1 Sam 16:7). However, according to what Paul said in I Corinthians 6:12, their religious activity and adherence to manmade doctrine and dogmas wont benefit them a bit either. Such things do little more, Scripturally speaking, than to keep people busy with seemingly spiritual things, thereby producing a false sense of security while appeasing human natures desire to be spiritual. Worse, it keeps many from finding the Truth, freedom and salvation and has done so for many centuries. This is true for both the Catholic and Non-Catholic Christians alike. If you haven’t gathered this by now, from this author’s perspective, the issue is NOT a matter of Catholic vs. Protestant. No, the issue is quite clearly whether we desire Religion or Relationship with our God. Heres a concern that must be considered: How many Catholics are NOT bound for Heaven as a result of trusting SOLELY in false religious teachings? How many Catholics are living in bondage to rules and regulations, depriving themselves of the promised freedom Jesus offers them? Its the same concern all true believers should have for the lost, those claiming Christ or not. Multitudes have been blinded and steered off course by manmade rules and regulations, though they felt assured of Heaven because they believed they were keeping the 10 Commandments, adhered to their groups doctrine and the like. They have no personal relationship with Christ and, for many; the lack of spiritual fruit in their lives makes this evident. Yet, they call themselves Catholic - or any other groups label - and believe this to be enough. Sadly, this describes millions who claim to be believers and followers disciples of Christ. Many, even after determining for themselves that Romes ways are simply incorrect, remain stationary on that Highway to Heaven out of loyalty, due to family pressures, or from emotional ties. Others simply LIKE religious ritual and dare not step outside their religious comfort zones. As a former Catholic, I can attest to the struggle I had with departing from what we Catholics liked to call the one true church(By the way, though I am FIRMLY convinced that Catholicism does NOT represent the one true church, I DO recognize them as being the first of scores of denominations from which all Martin Luther - and every so-called “Reformer” since then - has done little more than to hang a different shingle on another building, thus inviting the ruling spirit, the Spirit of the Pharisees). As a Non-Catholic, I can also attest to the difficulties I STILL had with an inbred desire to be “religious.” This must certainly stem from the Western cultural desire to win the blue ribbon, get the gold star, and attain the next level of success. Its very difficult for us to embrace the notion that its simply impossible to be good enoughso, we keep trying. Fact is, were human BEINGS, not human DO-ings. How difficult it is for us to simply BE Children of God and nurture that relationship with Him, all the while building His Kingdom as His Spirit leads, when our humanness cries out that we go and DO something, even something spiritual, in order to earn Gods favor and the adulation of others. This is simply impossible. Yes, the demonic spirit of Religion, the same devil that controlled the Pharisees - the most religious people of their day still roams planet Earth in search of those he may devour. Too often, those in leadership, overseeing scores of well-meaning Christians, are being fed to that beast. Too often, these believers step willingly, gladly, into that arena only to be consumed. Jesus warned that we cannot serve two Masters. We will love one and hate the other (Luke 16:13). The question I had to ask myself was this: Did I love Him more than Catholicism? I knew Catholicism; did I know Jesus at all? As Ive grown in my faith and in the knowledge of my Savior, I see now, like a young girl with two lovers vying for her affection, that there never really was any competition at all. God bless you and guide you as you seek Gods truth on these issues, keeping in mind that the Truth really matters. Keep the following things in mind as you go forth seeking Truth. Remember, if you choose to become or remain a Catholic, based upon the following facts, you’d better be a good one: 1. You are accursed by the Roman Catholic Church if you deny some of its main doctrines (the phrase you are about to read, “Amathema sit” means “Let him be accursed”). The following are some of the curses lumped on your head by the organization many say they love with all their hearts, straight from Rome’s own Catholic playbook: BAPTISM: “If anyone says that the Roman Church…does not have the true doctrine concerning the sacrament of baptism, anathema sit…If anyone says that baptism is …not necessary for salvation, anathema sit (Council of Trent, Session 7). PURGATORY: If any one says, that, after the grace of Justification has been received, to every penitent sinner the guilt is remitted, and the debt of eternal punishment is blotted out in such wise, that there remains not any debt of temporal punishment to be discharged either in this world, or in the next in Purgatory, before the entrance to the kingdom of Heaven can be opened to him; let him be anathema (Council of Trent, Session 6). PAPAL INFALLIBILITY: The Roman Pontiff… possesses…that infallibility which the divine Redeemer willed his Church to enjoy in defining doctrine concerning faith or morals. Therefore, such definitions of the Roman Pontiff are of themselves, and not by the consent of the Church, irreformable. So then, should anyone, which God forbid, have the temerity to reject this definition of ours: let him be anathema (First Vatican Council). TRANSUBSTANTIATION: If anyone denies that in the sacrament of the most holy Eucharist the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really and substantially contained, but says that he is in it only in a sign or figure…anathema sit (Council ofTrent, Session 12). SACRIFICE OF THE MASS: If anyone says that the sacrifice of the Mass is merely an offering of praise and thanksgiving, or that it is a simple commemoration of the sacrifice accomplished on the cross, but not a propitiatory sacrifice…offered for the living and the dead, for sins, punishments, satisfaction and other necessities, anathema sit (Council of Trent, Session 12). CONFESSION: If anyone denies that the sacramental confession was instituted, and is necessary for salvation, by divine Law; or says that the manner of confessing secretly to a priest alone, which the Catholic Church has always observed from the beginning and still observes, is at variance with the institution and command of Christ and is a human invention, anathema sit (Council of Trent, Session 14). (SOURCE: The Council of Trent, the 19th ecumenical council of the Roman Catholic church, held at Trent in northern Italy between 1545 and 1563. It marked a major turning point in the efforts of the Catholic church to respond to the challenge of the Protestant Reformation and formed a key part of the Counter-Reformation. The need for such a council had long been perceived by certain church leaders, but initial attempts to organize it were opposed by Francis I of France, who feared it would strengthen Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, and by the popes themselves, who feared a revival of Conciliarism. The council eventually met during three separate periods (1545-47, 1551-52, 1562-63) under the leadership of three different popes (Paul III, Julius III, Pius IV). All of its decrees were formally confirmed by Pope Pius IV in 1564. ADDITIONAL SOURCE: The First Vatican Council, the 20th ecumenical council of the Roman Catholic church, is best known for its decree affirming the doctrine of papal Infallibility. After a lengthy series of deliberations by preparatory commissions, it was opened by Pope Pius IX in Saint Peter’s Basilica on Dec. 8, 1869. Nearly 800 church leaders representing every continent attended, although the European members held a clear majority. Apparently the pope’s primary purpose in convening the council was to obtain confirmation of the position he had taken in his Syllabus of Errors (1864), condemning a wide range of modern positions associated with the ideas of rationalism, liberalism, and materialism.) 2. The Roman Catholic Church demands your mental submission to the teaching of the magisterium…whether you believe it or not. While the assent of faith is not required, a religious submission of intellect and will is to be given to any doctrine which either the Supreme Pontiff or the College of Bishops, exercising their authentic Magisterium, declare upon a matter of faith or morals, even though they do not intend to proclaim that doctrine by definitive act. Christ’s faithful are therefore to ensure that they avoid whatever does not accord with that doctrine (Canon Law, 752). While not infallible in their teaching, [Catholic bishops] are the authentic instructors and teachers of the faith for Christ’s faithful entrusted to their care. The faithful are bound to adhere, with a religious submission of mind, to this authentic Magisterium of their Bishops (Canon Law, 753). (SOURCE: Canon Law, the body of laws and regulations made by or adopted by ecclesiastical authority, for the government of the Roman Catholic Church and its members. Canon is derived from the Greek kanon, i.e. a rule or practical direction (not to speak of the other meanings of the word, such as list or catalogue), a term which soon acquired an exclusively ecclesiastical significance.) 3. As a Christian, you are called to walk according to the truth. If, by the grace of God, you know the truth of the Gospel and you are now trusting in Christ, your Lord and Savior, it is only natural that you should turn away from every falsehood and embrace the doctrines of Christ. How can you remain in fellowship with an organization that upholds so many doctrines that are proven to be false? If that’s the case where you, dear reader, are concerned, why not seek and join a Christian community where the Gospel of Jesus is faithfully taught? As for me, I could not remain a member of a church that cursed me. That in itself did NOT remind me of the Jesus I was coming to know. I could not consider myself a faithful Catholic since I disregarded and disobeyed the magisterium’s claim of supreme teaching authority. That NEVER sat well with me either, even in Parochial school. I could no longer conscientiously follow the One who IS Truth personified while living a lie. I pray that isn’t your situation. Serving Christ is now an adventure as I see lives changed daily as the Holy Spirit works through me. I’ve found my purpose and it’s thrills me to life! I have truly entered into the Joy of my salvation. I’m having the time of my life serving God! Jesus said, “Those who the Son sets free are free indeed.” Thank you, Jesus…I’m FREE! UPDATE: Only a few days after broadcasting this 3-part series, I saw a news story regarding a bleeding statue of the Virgin Mary as well as a TV report showing people lining up to pray and pay homage to a hole in a tree that the faithful say displays the image of the Blessed Virgin. Bleeding statues, cloud formations resembling Mary, burned images of Christ’s face in a taco shell…The hundreds of apparitions and numerous unexplainable phenomena that has been reported are nothing more than Satan’s devises as he draws precious souls away from a deeper knowledge of Jesus Christ. the enemy is a great counterfeiter. He devises false teachers and false prophets (2 Peter 2:1), false apostles with false gospels (2 Cor 11:1-15) and false miracles (2 Thess 2:9). In the end times these will result in a powerful deception that will even seem to threaten the existence of the Church itself. Scripture states seven times that false miracles will mislead many (Matthew 7:21-23, 24:24, Mark 13:22, 2 Thess 2:8-12, Rev 13:13,14, 16:14,19:20). Those deceived will believe they are serving God in the name of Jesus when in fact they are “workers of iniquity”. Be aware of these deceptions and ask God for the grace to exercise discernment. The Times to Fish

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

By Liza Othman It seems almost needless to tell any fisherman that the best fishing of the day, in pond or stream, is to be had during the first two hours after sun-up and from an hour and one-half before sunset until half an hour afterward. Fish seem to be a good deal like humans, so far as they can be observed and studied. In the morning they want their breakfast, during the heat of the day they like a siesta and when twilight falls they are hungry again. If you have your bait in the water at the first peep o’ day or at twilight, you will have a fuller creel of trout or bass, than if you fish during the midday hours. But here again we are up against another exception to the rule in the landlocked salmon of the lake, which seems to defy all rules of fishing lore and takes a delight in being eccentric. He is just as likely to take a bait at high noon as he is at sunrise or sunset. On the other hand the brook trout is another exception as compared with the bass and salmon. The trout will take a fly when it is so dark that you must cast “by feel” and he will come for your worms when the only way you have of knowing they are in the water is from the tinkle of your sinker on the surface. Rock Bass - Summer and autumn. Burbot (Ling, etc.) - Toward night. Carp King - Summer. Grayling - Autumn. Pike Perch - Summer and autumn. Salmon, Atlantic - Late spring and early summer. Brook Trout - Spring and summer, day or night. Lake Trout - Early morning and at twilight. Sea Bass - Summer and autumn. Striped Bass - From spring to autumn, night or day, at high or low tide. Blue Fish - June, July, August. Butter Fish - Summer. Flounder - Deep spots on ebb tide, shallow places on flood tide, February, March, April, October and November. Herring, Atlantic - October, November, morning and evening, high tide. Weakfish - In the ocean at ebb tide, July, August, September. How To REALLY Look For A Job

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

By Kevin Donlin Are you looking for a job — really looking? Or are you simply waiting for employment to fall into your lap? If you’re like about 75% of the job seekers I’ve met over the past nine years, you’re probably doing too much waiting and not enough searching. Stop. Now. Instead, here are two ways to be more proactive — and much more effective — in your job search. 1) Stop waiting for job leads to appear. Start making your own. Here’s a real estate analogy that directly relates to your job search. (Trust me.) Where would you rather buy a 3-bedroom house, in Japan or the United States? Considering the price would be about $2 million in Japan vs. about $200,000 in the US, you’d likely opt for an American home. And why is Japanese real estate so pricey? Mainly because only about 15% of Japan is habitable. The remaining 85% of land there is too mountainous to build on. So prices are driven into the stratosphere by the intense competition for prime real estate. Well, the traditional employment market is just like Japanese real estate. Advertised job openings — those listed on the Internet or in newspaper classifieds — are only about 15% of the market. Yet, this is where about 80-90% of job seekers spend most of their time looking so the competition is fierce. And, like Japanese real estate, you are far less likely to find what you want. It’s far better to spend most of your time looking for jobs that are not advertised, since you’ll have less competition. And how can you find unadvertised job leads? The two best ways I know are: a) Calling employers to ask for an interview (explained in a prior article of mine, here - http://www.gresumes.com/marky-stein-clients.htm) b) Networking more effectively Since so many people get networking so wrong, I’ll tackle that one next … 2) Stop waiting for people to hand you job leads. Start networking right. Here’s a recent email from an unhappy job seeker with a common — and completely wrong — negative attitude about networking: —Past experience has shown that most people will only help you when it directly benefits them, such as when there is an incentive hiring plan. For many years, I have tried to keep in touch with numerous people I knew very well. Most refuse to even answer. No returned emails, calls, etc. If people won’t even answer, they certainly will not help you. I would speculate that 98% of the time when I contact past acquaintances, I get the cold shoulder. Jim, Pennsylvania— Like most job hunters who network unsuccessfully, Jim is asking the wrong questions. And getting the wrong answers. And not getting hired. Instead of, “Why won’t anyone return my calls or give me job leads?” Jim (and you) should ask, “How could I give people a reason to contact me with job leads?” This simple change in mindset will make all the difference. Try it and see. Here are more questions to ask yourself if your networking is not panning out. * How can I make networking a two-way street, and do something that benefits the people I want job leads from? * What news/tips/advice/suggestions could I give to people in my network FIRST, which would ethically obligate them to help me in return? * Who else could I be networking with? * How many new people have I met this week who could give me job leads AFTER I help them out in some way? I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: Networking is like skiing. If you give up and say, “It didn’t work for me,” it’s because you weren’t doing it right. Period. Here’s hoping these two ways to uncover job leads and network better will help you get hired fast. Now, go out and make your own luck! Kevin Donlin is President of Guaranteed Resumes. Full Wet Sheet Pack

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

By Grata Young This is a procedure in which the whole body is wrapped in a wet sheet, which in turn is wrapped in a dry blanket for regulating evaporation. The blanket should be spread on the bed with its edges hanging over the edge of the bed. The upper end should be about eight inches from the head of the bed. Then spread a linen sheet wrung out in cold water over the blanket so that its end is slightly below the upper end of the blanket. The patient should lie on the bedsheet with his shoulders about three inches below the upper age. The wet sheet should be weekly wrapped round the body of the patient, drawn in, tightly tucked between the legs and also between the body and the arms. The sheet should be folded over the shoulders and across the neck. Now the blanket should be drawn tightly around the body and tucked in along the side in a similar manner, pulling it tightly. The ends should be doubled up at the feet. A turkish towel should be placed below the chin to protect the face and neck from coming into contact with the blanket and to exclude outside air more effectively. The head should be covered with a wet cloth so that the sculp remains cold. The feet should be kept warm during the entire treatment. If the patients feet are cold, place hot water bottles near them to hasten reaction. The pack is administered for half an hour to one hour till the patient begins to perspire profusely. He may be given cold or hot water to drink. This pack is useful in cases of fever especially in typhoid and continued fevers, and benefits those suffering from insomnia, epilepsy and infantile convulsions. It is useful in relieving chronic cold and bronchitis and helps in the treatment of rheumatism and obesity.
